What has become known as America's greates past time is represented on this 2-coin set from PAMP. Although baseball is best known for its popularity in North America it actually dates back to 18th century England and evolve from a combination of 'rounders' and 'cricket'
Baseball is played by two opposing teams that take turns batting and fielding on the pitch, called a “diamond”. Players on the batting side hit the baseball with a wooden bat and try to run around the bases without being “tagged” out. The aim is to score by making it around all four bases and across home plate. The first recorded game of "Bass-Ball" took place in 1749 in Surrey, England, and was then brought over to Canada by immigrants soon after in the 1800’s. On June 19th, 1846, the first officially recorded baseball game in U.S. history took place in Hoboken, New Jersey. Since then, the sport has grown in popularity, and is now referred to as “America’s Pastime”.
