The New Zealand Mint Star Wars Chibi Coin series continues with the third coin in the collection featuring R2-D2. As a fan-favourite droid, this one is sure to be popular!
A reliable and versatile astromech droid, R2-D2 has served Padmé Amidala, Anakin Skywalker, and Luke Skywalker in turn, showing great bravery in rescuing his masters and their friends from many perils. A skilled starship mechanic and fighter pilot's assistant, he has an unlikely but enduring friendship with the fussy protocol droid C-3PO.
The coin is made from 1oz of pure silver that has been shaped and coloured in the chibi art style. It is a legal tender coin, with the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II engraved on the opposite side. The coin is placed inside a specially designed case, moulded to the coin’s shape, for protection.
The outer box features more images of R2-D2 and a large window to allow for display of this precious collectible. A Certificate of Authenticity is printed on the box with the coin’s unique number in the mintage.
