To commemorate the first official visit of Pope Francis to the United States in September of 2015, this medal was produced by the Northwest Territorial Mint, with a base composition of .999 fine silver and some 24k gold gilding to enhance the piece. The obverse features the likeness of Pope Francis and the reverse features the largest Roman Catholic church in the United States. The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, located in Washington DC also qualifies as one of the ten largest in the world. 

The inside of the case features a notation for Blessed Junipero Serra, and a small stained glass window for the patron saint as well.
